Give a Kid a Chance Sport Equipment Drive Kick-Off
This past year, the City of Markham and Eabametoong First Nation formed a community partnership. As part of this partnership, Eabametoong First Nation has identified health and wellness, physical literacy and youth engagement as priority legacy projects for their community.
This is the second Give a Kid a Chance Sports Equipment Drive that the City of Markham has run to assist youth from the Eabametoong First Nation.
About Eabametoong First Nation:
- Also known as Fort Hope
- Ojibway First Nation
- Accessible only by airplane, water, or by ice roads in the winter
- Location: Kenora District, Ontario (300km northeast of Thunder Bay)
- Population: 1,500 people
- Economy: Mainly a cash economy with limited employment opportunities
Help support Eabametoong First Nation’s youth by dropping off your new or gently used baseball bats and gloves today at Markham Civic Centre, 101 Town Centre Boulevard. Donation boxes are set up at the Great Hall entrance and Thornhill entrance of the Civic Centre — until January 26, 2018. All donations will help to support Eabametoong First Nation’s youth to be engaged in physical literacy.
