Heavy Rainfall Expected for Markham
Significant weather system that may bring 40 to 70 millimeters of rainfall has been forecasted for Markham and the Greater Toronto Area. Rain is expected to start on Thursday before tapering to showers this weekend.
The City of Markham is well prepared for the heavy rainfall. Our staff is actively monitoring the weather to make sure we are ready to respond and communicate to residents if needed. Markham has also made significant investments in our infrastructure to prevent our communities from flooding.

Help Us Help You
As a community, we are used to helping each other out – and it’s no different during rainfall warnings such as this. We ask that everyone pitch in. Ways you and your neighbours can help are:
- Check in on your neighbours who may need help (the elderly, pregnant, sick or infirm)
- Stay away from rivers and streams, and exercise extreme caution when walking around any body of water.
- Help by clearing the storm grates on streets within your neighbourhood.
