Markham Council takes CN Rail Safety Pledge
On Tuesday April 26, 2017, as part of National Rail Safety Week (April 24 – 30, 2017), Mayor Frank Scarpitti took the CN Rail Safety Pledge, pledging to speak up and call CN Police if he sees danger on any rail tracks. Railway safety is a priority for CN, and under the leadership of Mayor Scarpitti, Railway Safety is a priority for Markham.
The “See Tracks, Think Train” initiative builds on CN’s work in communities, like Markham, to improve rail safety. This initiative helps prevent trespassing and crossing accidents through education, engagement, and enforcement.
The City of Markham is the first municipality in Ontario to use the “See Tracks, Think Train” logo on city sidewalks placed last October at two locations, 14th Avenue and Green Lane level crossings. As more people use their mobile devices while walking, CN Rail reminds us all to stay aware with this new campaign.
Take the CN Rail Safety Pledge today.
