Markham now accepting nominations for the 2018 Mayor's Seniors' Hall of Fame Awards
MARKHAM, ON - May 17, 2018 - Do you know a senior who has made an outstanding contribution to the Markham community? Help show your appreciation and nominate them for the 2018 Mayor's Seniors' Hall of Fame Awards!
"We appreciate their volunteerism, the skills and experience they bring, while also providing guidance and leadership, giving up their time in retirement years to help improve the lives of others," says Mayor Frank Scarpitti.
Markham is proud to be a City with a long and proud history of exceptional volunteerism. Now in its 20th year, the Mayor's Seniors' Hall of Fame Awards celebrate our dedicated volunteers for their years of service, passion and leadership in the community.
Each year, the Mayor's Seniors' Hall of Fame Award is presented to a nominee who has made a unique and outstanding contribution to the City of Markham, is more than 60 years of age, and has been a Markham resident for at least seven years.
"There are so many seniors in Markham that put their whole heart into the community," says Yash Kapur, Chair of the Mayor's Seniors' Hall of Fame Committee. "This is an opportunity to honour them for the outstanding work they have accomplished and continue to pursue."
The nomination deadline is Friday, September 7, 2018. The Awards Ceremony will take place on Monday, October 1 at the Markham Civic Centre Council Chambers.
Nominators can click to download a 2018 nomination form or pick one up at any Markham Seniors Centre and Clubs, major community centre, library or at the Markham Civic Centre.
