Ready for Winter
Ready for Winter
Help Keep Markham Beautiful! Winter Parking Restrictions Are In Effect.
As we get ready for winter and pull our shovels out of storage, Markham residents and business owners are reminded to observe winter parking restrictions.
To ensure our residential streets are clear to accommodate traffic flow, emergency response vehicles, road maintenance vehicles and snowplows – as of November 15 until April 15 winter parking restrictions are in effect.
All parking on both sides of all City streets is prohibited during snow clearing operations. Existing parking permits and overnight exemptions held by residents are not valid during snow clearing operations. The fine for interfering with snow removal is $150.00.
Parking on residential streets is only permitted on the odd-number side of the street, unless there is a sign posted otherwise, and overnight parking between 2:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. is not permitted unless a parking permit program is in place.
Considerations for alternative parking will only be made at the discretion of the city on a night-to-night basis. However, keep in mind a parking exemption will not prevent you from getting a ticket or being towed if your vehicle obstructs snow clearing or road maintenance operations.
