Reconstruction of Village Parkway from Highway 7 to Landmark Court
Introduction:
Village Parkway from Highway 7 to Landmark Court is currently a two-lane rural cross-section without a storm sewer system, sidewalks, and bike lanes. This section of the road is being reconstructed with an urban cross-section, improved profile and horizontal realignment, curb and gutter, dedicated cycle tracks, sidewalks, streetlights, landscaping, and a traffic roundabout. The reconstructed road, including underground services, will improve the road function and public safety, and will support the development of adjacent lands.
The project has been designed and is being managed by SCS Consulting Group Ltd., and is being constructed by the Developers under an Agreement with the City of Markham.
Progress To-Date:
Since starting construction works at the site on July 12, 2013, the road is now completed to base asphalt including curbs and was opened to traffic on November 25, 2013.
There are a few items yet to be completed. Construction of the sidewalk on the west side of Village Parkway will be complete prior to year end (December 31, 2013). The remaining construction in the boulevard such as installation of permanent streetlights, signage and tree planting, sidewalk on east side, etc. will continue in spring 2014. Included in the works planned for future completion are top curb works with delineation of bike lanes and parking lay by lanes, top asphalt works, installation of sidewalk on east side, and new pavement markings.
Thank you very much for your continued patience during the construction period.
