Voter Information Letters for the 2026 Markham Municipal Election are in the mail
MARKHAM, ON – October 7, 2026 – Voter Information Letters for the 2026 Markham Municipal Election are in the mail and being delivered by Canada Post to registered Markham voters.
From October 16 at 10 AM to October 26 at 8 PM, Markham voters can vote online for the offices of Mayor, Regional Councillor, Ward Councillor and School Board Trustee. Voters can also cast their ballot in person at any designated voting place from October 23 to 26, or at Elections Markham Headquarters until October 22.
Voter Information Letters include:
The web address to the City’s online voting website;
A personal Voting PIN to vote online; and,
Other important information about the election.
Eligible voters who don’t receive a Voter Information Letter by October 16 may not be registered at their current address or at all.
Eligible voters can check and update their registration information using Elections Markham’s online Register to Vote service, at the Markham Civic Centre’s Legislative Service counter, or at any voting place during in-person voting days (October 23-26).
Voters registering in person are reminded to bring ID to show election officials who they are.
A person can vote in Markham’s municipal election if they are:
At least 18 years old (by October 26, 2026);
A Canadian citizen;
A Markham resident, landowner or tenant (or the spouse of one); and,
Registered to vote.
A voter can only vote once in Markham’s municipal election, no matter how many properties they own or rent in the city.
If a voter receives a Voter Information Letter for someone who does not live at their address, they should mark the envelope ‘Return to Sender’ and mail it back to Elections Markham. If a voter loses their Voter Information Letter, they should contact Elections Markham to request a new online Voting PIN and the old one will be deactivated.
Voters are reminded to only open a Voter Information Letter that is addressed to them. It’s illegal to take or open mail that is addressed to another person. Voters should never share their online Voting PIN. It belongs to them and no one should ever ask them for it.
