Markham Museum offers a unique family and educational experience across 25 acres of scenic parkland. With engaging exhibitions, hands-on programs, and immersive storytelling, we celebrate the rich history and ongoing growth of our diverse community.
Notice: Our South Gallery located in the John Lunau Centre will be closed on Wednesday February 11th and Thursday February 12th for a private event.

Admission
- Adults (18+): $8.00 plus tax
- Seniors/Students: $7.00 plus tax
- Children (2-12): $6.00 plus tax

We are a cash-free business! We accept payments from debit and credit cards (VISA, Mastercard, and AMEX).

Sensory Kits
Markham Museum now has Sensory Kits available at our Front Desk for visitors to borrow for free!
What is a Sensory Kit?
Sensory Kits are designed to support visitors who may experience sensory overload as they reduce barriers to access, increase comfort, and demonstrate our ongoing commitment to inclusive, visitor-centered museum experiences. Every Sensory Kit includes fidget toys, calming cards, sensory maps, tinted glasses, and noise cancelling headphones. Admission Assistance - Access2 Program
Markham Museum is a proud member of the Easter Seals' Access2 program. This program allows registered caregivers to enter the Museum at no cost, removing barriers for those who require a support person to enjoy their visit. Present your valid Access 2 Card upon entry, and your support person will receive complimentary admission.
Entrance and Accessible Parking
The entrance to Markham Museum is located through the main electronic doors of the John Lunau Centre.
There are wheelchair accessible parking spaces located directly in front of the main doors of the John Lunau Centre.
Service Animals
Service animals are welcome anywhere on Museum grounds.

Finding the Pottery Studio
All pottery programs and workshops take place in our Pottery Studio located on the Markham Museum site. Please park near the northern end of the parking lot to the right of the Mount Joy Administrative Building (red brick building). The entrance will be a short black gate on the side near the north drive in gate. The gate will be unlocked by a staff member prior to the start of the program to allow entry.
Things To Do
Mini Golf - Spring/Summer/Fall Activity
Play 9 holes of Mini Golf with obstacles inspired by historic Markham landmarks! Mini golf is not recommended for children under the age of 3. Parental supervision is encouraged.
Public Skating - Winter Activity
There’s no tradition more Canadian than skating! Lace up your skates and get ready for some icy fun. Whether you’re twirling like a figure skater, zooming around like a hockey pro, or gliding alongside friends, nothing beats the thrill of skating on ice.
Please note that skating is a weather-dependent activity and availability may vary. The skating rink at Markham Museum is operated by the City of Markham and is not exclusively managed by the Museum. For the most up-to-date information, visit the City’s Public Skating, Lessons & Hockey page for updates on all of Markham’s outdoor ice rinks.
Snowshoeing - Winter Activity
Explore our 25-acre site by snowshoe! Museum staff will help you get fitted with a pair of our snowshoes, and you can explore the museum grounds looking for wildlife tracks and enjoying winter weather. Snowshoeing is a weather dependent activity and availability may vary. Visitors must be wearing winter boots and cold-weather clothing to participate in snowshoeing. Final entry time is 4:00 PM.
Storytime at the Museum - Year Long Activity
We invite families to enjoy storytime every Saturday and Sunday at 11:00 AM and 2:30 PM in our Everyday Superheroes exhibition. Each session will run for approximately 30 minutes featuring 1-2 picture book and songs perfect for young listeners and their grown-ups.
Come enjoy the seasons at Markham Museum, where adventure awaits all year long! Please dress accordingly to the weather conditions.

From guided experiences to self-guided adventures, all tours are included with admission. Check out the options below and start exploring!
Guided Heritage Building Tours
Join us for a 45-minute guided tour of our 25-acre site and to step inside our heritage buildings! Tours are available on Wednesday to Friday at 2:00 PM, and Saturday and Sunday at 12:30 PM and 3:00 PM. The inside of all heritage buildings will not be accessible outside of this experience.
Gallery Tours
Available on Saturdays and Sundays at 11:30 AM, our 30 minute Everyday Superheroes Gallery Tour takes visitors on a deeper exploration of the exhibition, highlighting historic stories of care, service, and community while introducing contemporary individuals featured in the gallery.
Geo Tours - Spring/Summer/Fall Activity
Discover Markham Museum using GPS navigation to explore our 25-acre site! Learn about Markham’s history and environmental features by following either our Nature Navigators trail or Great Adventures trail. Explore the grounds, connect with the past, and see how nature shapes our community. Make sure your cellphone is charged!

Educational Tours
Bring your classroom to life with a guided tour at Markham Museum! Offered year-round, these hands-on programs are led by experienced instructors and align with Ontario’s curriculum standards. Students explore our 25-acre site, heritage structures, and exhibitions through dynamic activities that connect history, sustainability, and innovation. Half-day and full-day options are available
Coexisting with Wildlife at Markham Museum
Markham Museum is home to more than just history - our unique blend of urban and natural landscapes provides a habitat for local wildlife, including foxes, coyotes, geese and other species that occasionally roam the grounds. Coyotes are among the most commonly spotted animals in Markham, and understanding their behaviour helps ensure safe and respectful interactions. While urban sightings may be increasing, it’s important to note that relocating coyotes is prohibited under Ontario’s Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act.
To help preserve a safe and respectful environment for both visitors and wildlife, all dogs must remain leashed at all times while on Museum grounds and are not permitted in buildings (service dogs accepted). By working together, we can coexist with nature and appreciate the vital role these animals play in our local ecosystem.
