- Camp Hours
Camp hours are 9 AM to 4 PM daily, except at Markham Museum, where camp hours are 8:30 AM to 5 PM.
- Age groups
Camps are offered for children ages 4 to 15 years. Campers are grouped by age to ensure a fun and appropriate experience for all.
Age groups include:
- Ages 4 to 6 years
- Ages 6 to 12 years
- Ages 13 to 15 years
Campers must meet the minimum age for the camp and be toilet trained.
- Session dates
Camps are offered in both one-week or two-week camp sessions depending on the location and theme of camp.
One-week sessions:
Session 1: Monday, June 29 to Friday, July 3, 2026. No camp on July 1.
Session 2: Monday, July 6 to Friday, July 10, 2026
Session 3: Monday, July 13 to Friday, July 17, 2026
Session 4: Monday, July 20 to Friday, July 24, 2026
Session 5: Monday, July 27 to Friday, July 31, 2026
Session 6: Tuesday, August 4 to Friday, August 7, 2026. No camp on August 3.
Session 7: Monday, August 10 to Friday, August 14, 2026
Session 8: Monday, August 17 to Friday, August 21, 2026
Session 9: Monday, August 24 to Friday, August 28, 2026
Session 10: Monday, August 31 to Friday, September 4, 2026
Two-week sessions:
Session 1: Monday, June 29 to Friday, July 10, 2026. No camp on July 1.
Session 2: Monday, July 13 to Friday, July 24, 2026
Session 3: Monday, July 27 to Friday, August 7, 2026. No camp on August 3.

- Holidays
Camps will not operate on public holidays such as Canada Day (July 1, 2026) and Civic Holiday (August 3, 2026).
- Quality assurance
The City of Markham is committed to providing a safe and enriching summer camp experience for all children. Camp policies, procedures and operations are reviewed annually to ensure they meet the highest standards. The following are some of the accreditations and/or affiliations to ensure we meet the highest standards in safety and quality programming:
Ontario Camps Association - an organization that sets standards for all types of camps.
HIGH FIVE – an organization that sets standards for healthy child development.
Lifesaving Society – supports staff training by providing expertise in first aid treatment, and water safety.
York Region Public Health – provides public health and safety recommendations or policies. Specifically, the City of Markham endorses the York Region Public Health concussion policy.
Children’s Aid Society – supports staff training by providing insights on understanding child protection.
- Staff
City of Markham staff are carefully selected and undergo rigorous training to ensure a safe and positive experience at camps. City of Markham staff are qualified individuals hired from within our local community and have the following minimum qualifications:
- Standard First Aid with CPR Level ‘C’
- HIGH FIVE – Principles of Healthy Child Development
- Satisfactory educational or professional reference checks
- Satisfactory police vulnerable sector check
- Experience working with children
- Leadership experience
Some staff may have other specialized training to support the camp themes and activities.
- Staff-to-Child Ratios:
City of Markham maintains the following ratios to provide close supervision of all campers.
Campers ages 4 to 6 years: 1 Camp Counsellor to 7 children
Campers ages 6 to 15 years: 1 Camp Counsellor to 10 children
Additional staff and volunteers are on site to provide extra attention and support.
- Communication to parents and guardians
City of Markham strives to keep parents and guardians well-informed throughout the camp session.
Here are some communication methods:
- A reminder email before the start of camp: A reminder email will be sent out prior to camp about general information, special events and reminders.
- Parent-staff communications: Parents can communicate with on-site staff about questions or concerns at pick up, drop off, phone call or email.
