Get a taste of the sweet life and accessible family fun at Markham's annual Applefest
MARKHAM, ON – September 18, 2018 – Dive into fall this weekend at Markham's 34th annual Applefest! Explore several Museum exhibitions, try out the mini train and bouncy slide as well as games, enjoy live entertainment, plus, come try adaptive sports like wheelchair basketball with the Ontario Wheelchair Sports Association's Joanne Lee at the Accessibility Fair, hosted at Applefest for the second year in a row.
"Several local groups and volunteers help make Applefest a uniquely Markham event," says Cathy Molloy, Director of the Markham Museum. "Including the running of our Cider Mill, which is only open for two days each year during Applefest."
Along with freshly made apple cider, enjoy a variety of delicious apple treats including apple butter and fritters, as well as an assortment of specialty food trucks over the weekend.
You won't want to miss the Accessibility Fair, hosted by Markham's Accessibility Committee. Enjoy a cup of coffee from Wayne's Cup, try Tai Chi and wheelchair ballroom dancing, discover ability-enhancing solutions and enjoy other family-friendly accessible activities.
"We hope you'll join us this weekend," says Markham Accessibility Committee Chair Kristin Hayes, "to help encourage and advocate for an active and healthy lifestyle for people with disabilities through recreation and sports."
