Markham's municipal and school board elections are governed by a combination of provincial statutes and City by-laws. When we deliver elections or engage in election-related activity, we are responsible for complying with and upholding these laws.

Markham's City Clerk is authorized to establish or clarify any matter or procedure of the election process that is not set out by law and is necessary or advisable for conducting the election.
Our policies and procedures are designed to support the integrity and accessibility of the electoral process and to manage our elections in an efficient, fair, and impartial manner.
